Screenata

Platform / Screenshot automation

The screenshots
take themselves

It’s the capability we’re named for. APIs cover most controls, but some evidence only exists in admin consoles that render in a browser. Screenata’s recorder captures those workflows step by step, an AI coach guides you in real time, a vision model scores the result, and the capture is signed like any other artifact.

The long tail

Built for the consoles APIs can’t reach.

About 9% of controls are evidenced by what an admin screen shows: an enforcement toggle, a policy page, a roster. That evidence used to mean a founder with a cropping tool. Now it's a recorded flow.

Recording runs in a browser extension, start with a keystroke (Shift+Alt+E), pause, resume, or capture a single frame. Tab switches pause automatically so nothing private is recorded by accident.

Evidence that holds up

Screenshots that don’t come back with questions.

Auditors reject evidence that's cropped wrong, out of date, or impossible to reproduce, and every rejection costs you a round trip in the middle of an audit. Screenata captures are built to pass review the first time.

Survives UI redesigns

Admin consoles change their layout constantly. Captures identify what they recorded by meaning, dozens of signals per element with ranked fallbacks, so a facelift doesn't send someone back to redo the whole flow.

Shows cause and effect

Every step keeps a before and an after, so the evidence shows the setting being verified, not just a screen that happened to be open. Auditors get the story, not a single frame to squint at.

Handles the fiddly screens

The settings that matter tend to hide in modals, dropdowns, and nested panels, exactly where casual screenshots go wrong. Captures understand those layers, so the tricky screens are covered too.

Nothing sensitive leaves the browser

Sensitive data is blurred automatically, and anything else can be redacted by hand, before a screenshot is ever uploaded. Evidence collection shouldn't create its own data exposure.

Automated equals manual in quality

The same capture engine runs in your browser and in our cloud browsers, so automated captures are indistinguishable from hand-recorded ones. No second-class evidence in the audit package.

Minutes, not afternoons

A capture takes as long as clicking through the console once. The renaming, cropping, uploading, and “which control was this for?” overhead is gone, and so is the quarterly calendar reminder to do it all again.

Guided collection

An AI coach watches the recording, while you make it.

For controls that need a human in the loop, Vera coaches in real time: she tracks which requirements the capture already demonstrates, points at what's missing, and celebrates only what's actually on screen. Encouraging, not blocking.

Encouraging, not blocking — grounded only in what’s literally on screen

Mode 01

Coach

Real-time guidance while you record. Progress is weighted by requirement importance, and the coach only credits what's literally visible on screen, no hallucinated praise.

Mode 02

Quality gate

Pre-submission validation against configurable thresholds. A capture that won't satisfy the control gets a retake prompt now, not an auditor finding later.

Mode 03

Judge

Post-submission comprehensive scoring across all four dimensions, with per-element validation, confidence, and concrete improvement suggestions.

One-click requirement mapping

The AI proposes which requirement each screenshot demonstrates; you confirm with one click. Confirmed mappings hit 95–100% accuracy, versus 70–85% for LLM-only tagging, and a human confirmation is never overridden by the model.

Remediation mode: coach the fix, capture the proof

The same loop can walk you through making a change, “open Security → Authentication and enable Require MFA”, and record it as evidence. You perform every write; Screenata never clicks Save on your behalf.

Vision-scored quality

Bad captures get caught before submission, not in the audit.

A vision LLM reviews every capture element by element: is it present, is it valid, how confident, and what would make it better. Scores roll up into four dimensions and a quality tier, and anything below threshold gets a retake prompt with specific suggestions.

Evidence demonstrates control effectiveness

The bar: 90+ is excellent, below 60 means retake, tuned per evidence type. Quality problems surface while you’re still on the page, not months later as a finding in the auditor’s list.

Why we can do this

Capture is the founding capability, not a bolt-on.

Screenata grew out of a screen-recording platform, the recorder came first, the compliance product was built on top of it. The same capture core now runs in two places, so manual and automated captures are indistinguishable to an auditor.

In your browser

The recorder extension captures each step with before-and-after screenshots as you click through a console. Long sessions upload reliably in the background, so a half-hour recording doesn’t die at minute 29 and take your afternoon with it.

Get it on the Chrome Web Store

In headless cloud browsers

Routine captures can run in cloud browsers with nobody at the keyboard, and produce the same evidence a human recording would. That’s what lets screenshot evidence scale past founder patience.

Every capture ends the same way: hashed, signed, timestamped, mapped to its control, and tracked through the fresh → stale → expired lifecycle, indistinguishable from API-collected evidence in the audit package.

Freshness

Screenshots age. The Evidence Agent notices.

A screenshot from last year proves last year. Captures enter the same freshness lifecycle as every other artifact: the daily 6:00 AM sweep flags anything approaching 90 days and drafts the re-collection before your auditor asks.

Before / after

Retire the cropping-tool ritual.

Screenshot evidence, everywhere else

  • Find the right console page from a wiki doc that's two UIs out of date
  • Screenshot, crop, rename, and drag it into a GRC dashboard form
  • Hope it shows what the auditor needs, find out months later if it doesn't
  • Set a calendar reminder to redo all of it next quarter

Screenshot evidence, on Screenata

  • Record the workflow once, the extension captures steps, screenshots, and DOM context
  • Vera coaches you through anything missing while you're still on the page
  • A vision model scores the capture across 4 dimensions before submission
  • The artifact is signed, mapped to its control, and freshness-tracked from day one

Watch a capture become evidence

One demo: record a console workflow, get coached through the missing requirement, see the vision score, and open the signed artifact.
